Metcalfe Indoor Soccer League - Intermediate Schedule

Background

The Metcalfe Indoor Soccer League is a volunteer run organisation based in Metcalfe, Ontario (Canada).

The league was the brainchild of Alan Barkehousecoulis, David Burton and Keith Wallace, conceived in the summer of 1999. It was intended to provide a healthy and social activity for the youth of the area during the winter months, traditionally set aside for Ice Hockey. Outdoor youth soccer leagues were, and remain today, very popular in the area but are run only between the months of May and August. It was considered that to provide this additional, or alternative, sporting activity for the youth of the area through the remainder of the calendar year would prove very popular.

The first league was held between September & April of 1999, split into 2 seasons - Sep to Dec & Jan to Apr. Since that time the league has grown two-fold in number of players, has expanded from an age span of 5-12 to 4-17 yrs, from 4 to 5 Divisions, and has incorporated a Beginners Group for 4 yr olds plus an Adult League.

Alan and Keith have since moved on, but the League continues to flourish under the direction of a core group of parent volunteers intent on keeping this league an exciting option for the youth
